INTERVIEW WITH ADRIANA ZUFRIATEGUI

What is art for you?

I could give many answers and definitions paraphrase those artists that I admire and who have been my inspiration and model but the truth is I prefer to say that to me is a lifestyle, a way of seeing, relating, feeling. It is built from love, from that intimate connection with our self and the divine.

It is communication, commitment, freedom, share and enrich the other. It's energy, intensity, is simply to give the best ...

What was your approach to art?

Is sometimes difficult to synthesize a life story in a nutshell ... I always draw and paint parallel to my first profession as an executive and later as a consultant in Human Resources. I went through difficult work and personal moments that made me think about a career change. A deep internal breakdown was brewing in my last stint as executive and I could not go more in that way.

Without intending to, little by little, art was gaining prominence in my life, helped me to overcome the painful processes and connect me again with that bit of inside divinity that we all have.

He showed me who I was and who I am and although I chose to change my skin, experience and memory are integrated and reconciled.

In this process there is much love and support of George, my partner, my family and friends. Lot of work and study, teachers amazing and generous as Laura and John, fellow artists who have advised and helped me a lot my sister Mary, George, Roxana, Luciana and many more who have encouraged and inspired me with your comments

What inspires you? How do you generate your work? What materials and tools you use? What are your favorites?

Everything, absolutely everything! A song, a good book, an image, an experience, but also my emotions and people in general: I'm happy when I interact with others. I'm very curious, I always want to know, ask, listen, observe ...
I have traveled and travel a lot and it always feeds you, all adds up.

In my work the concept determines the choice of future support. I like to tell stories through thematic series. Basically I need to communicate and that is related to my background and my personal history

Potential ideas are converted into a folder where material accumulates. Some of them are realized and others await the arrival of his time.

There is a time of solitude in the studio that is essential to realize the projects: this is the stage of production and material creation of the work: a moment of surrender, of playful instinct, love ... But I need the other's gaze not only as a spectator but after sharing the process before, I like the energy generated.

Today the possibilities are many so I try to add new trends to the traditional tools and materials.

There are materials and tools that I dominate more but it is due not only to study but also to practice and work.
I have no preferred materials. I fell in love with them when I choose and try to learn and to exhaust the possibilities that they provide.
